On March 13, 1971 the Zodiac mails a letter to the Los Angeles Times.
He indicated the Police are not doing their job to catch him. He suggests
they get off their "Fat Asses" and to not "fiddle and fart around". He also says
they have caught on to his activity in Riverside, Ca. Note he states "down there"
which indicates to me that he is from Northern Ca.

There is much conjecture regarding whether the murder of Cheri Jo Bates was the
work of the Zodiac Killer. It appears some letters sent were matched to the writing
of the Zodiac Killer. And there was a letter sent that was typed all in caps. And then
there was a dark poem scratched into the underside of a folding desk top at the Riverside
campus where Cheri Jo Bates was murdered.

When the CA DOJ interviewed me this year regarding my suspect, I began to mention some
correlations to the Cheri Jo Bates crimes. Mr. Selby grunted, "The Cheri Jo Bates murder is
not the work of the Zodiac."

No one hears from the Zodiac Killer for a few years, no letters, no phone calls, no bragging.
And then in Jan of 1974 he sends in a letter. He says he thinks the movie the "Exorcist" is
comical. He then quotes another song from the Gilbert and Sullivan Japanese Opera the Mikado.
The song is about rejected love. The last letter he sent in 1971 claims 17+ victims, this time he claims 37.
He is saying he has killed 20 people since we had heard from him last. There is strange Asian looking symbol
left on the bottom.


My suspect would say the quote out loud while I was married to him. "The Exorcist is the most
saterical comedy I have ever seen." Well, I had seen the "Exorcist" and it was pretty scary to me.
"Odd, I thought, what a strange thing to say." "What do you mean?" I asked him and he would
repeat the quote. He also would follow me around saying first very softly, "Tit Willow, Tit Willow."
And then very deep and taunting, "TIT WILLOW" Those must have been times when I was threatening
to leave him.

In May of 1974 another letter is sent by Zodiac to the San Francisco Chronicle.
He indicates he is upset about the recent advertising of a movie called "The
Badlands", he says that it glorified killings, and he signs it "A Citizen".
Experts believe it is the work of the Zodiac Killer.

As I have said before, there are some similarities in your POI's writing compared to Zodiac's. If I were you, I would consult a writing examiner

There seems to be some dispute regarding the letter sent to an LA News Channel
signed with the Zodiac symbol of crossed hairs over a circle. It was sent in May of
1978, years after hearing from the Zodiac Killer. The writing is a herky jerky version
of the normal Zodiac Killer handwriting. He is pissed off a LE in LA, including the new
Chief of Police, Darrel Gates. He also assails Susan Atkins of the Manson Family calling her
a "Judas". All of the references sound very Southern California as opposed to Northern Calif.

There was a series of rapes and then murders in the Northe East area of Sacramento in the mid to late
1970's. They came to coin the guy as the East Area Rapist. Some people think he could have also been the
Zodiac Killer. This perpetrator has never been caught. LE has his DNA and has tied it to other crimes in the
southern California area.

I have been told by Sacramento Sheriff's that my suspect's DNA would have been a hit for the
EAR/ONS ( our son's DNA) and it did not hit. They did say they would triage him none the less.
I first met my suspect when I was 12 yrs old and he was 21, when my sister married his best friend.
I then met him again at 15, when I went camping with my sister and her husband and my suspect and
others at Lake Shasta. I would marry him at 19 in 1978. During the EAR crimes I actually lived as a young
college student in a circle of these crimes, including on the same street where I lived with my mother.
The streets I lived on were, Tondela, in Fair Oaks, Robertson Ave., in Carmichael, and Lincoln Meadows Apts
on Greenback Ave., near Birdcage drive. See the map of the EAR crimes, the green stars are where I was
living. We were married and lived in El Sobrante in Contra Costa County in 1978, where all the EAR crimes
then shifted to. Just thought it was kinda weird.

Your poi does look somewhat like ear/ons. I know some of the ear/ons dna. Do you know the dna of your poi? If you send me the DQA1 or D Q Alpha One of your poi in a pm I can tell you if it mtches or not.

2. Did he have Nordic (Sweeden, Finland, Norway, Dutch, German) or Slavic (Polish, Russian) heritage?

If you don't have actual DNA from your suspect I can't help you as much. Do you have a toothbrush he used?

Yes in theory if your son was arrested and convicted of a felony, he SHOULD have his DNA put into the CODIS system, and in theory it SHOULD show a family match to EAR/ONS DNA. What I have found out - the hard way - is that the system is full of bugs, mistakes, oversights and just plain incompetence. Three seperate federal laws require that my suspect give DNA to CODIS, and he was called America's most wanted serial killer and the number one domestic terrorist and guess what it still hasn't happened.

DQA1 is expressed at two numbers. For example:

1, 2

1, 1.1

1.1, 2

2, 3

3, 4

If you really think your POI could have been EAR/ONS, I would suggest having your son get a DNA test and send me the DQA1 - if I understand correctly, if his dad was EAR/ONS then at least one of the two markers must match. Then also send the full results of your son's DNA to the Sac Sheriff. In other words, don't trust the CODIS systtem to work. There is a 2 to 3 year backlog, and some results never get entered at all.

His eye color was Hazel listed as such on his Driver's license.
Sometimes they could look grey, sometimes greenish, sometimes blueish.
I hear what you are saying about the DNA, I wondered how accurate it is.

Eerie! A killer in Hitchcock film 'Rope' holds cig that way. Agree probably too young but witnesses said Sandy was 17 and a small number of 13 year olds might look 17.

MY POIs birthdate is 3-25-49

...definitely is a match, however, lips, ears and missing glasses (contact lenses) don´t work-out. Wondered where the name 'Sandy' came from..colored hair? Name Sandro? Hm.

I always found Sandy Bett's story of her suspect very compelling. Her suspect
fits the physical description of my suspect very closely. The story about the
Zodiac items left in the back of her car, and the stalking that occurred fits my
suspect very well. My suspect did leave strange little momentos around that
only in retrospect would I now know what they meant. Sandy's description of the
blackened paper bag, as the mask, seems spot on as well. Sandy said our suspects
could be brothers. I have been studying the Zodiac's printing for some time now and
find the note left for her in 88-89 at her place of employment looks very similar to the
Zodiac's handwriting. Sandy believe's her suspect is still alive, but mine is dead. Perhaps
she has confused Zodiac with someone who looks enough like him to be his brother. I'm
sure she has reasons she suspects who she does. Please see Sandy's POI thread.
See below a picture of my suspect cleaned up similar to the photo of Sandy's guy
sitting on the barstool. My suspect worked in insulation and would be covered in dust
after work. He had hazel eyes, and suffered from psoriacis, sometimes using face
make up to cover it. In 87 his mother owned a Mercury Sable.

Just went on Monday to the exact site my POI took me over and over through the years.
We would park at Smittle Creek.

Onewhoknows, how tall was your POI?

Just under 5' 10" so 5'9" he weighed more when he was younger he kept
his weight very low throughout our marriage but about 160-165lbs during
the classic Zodiac murders he was on the gymnastics team at San Jose State
1968-69 reddish brown hair, his mother's was auburn. Hazel eyes. Shoe size
9 extra wide or 10 if he couldn't get width.
