| I found this article about an anonymous note found by postal workers. The article does not say it's from the Zodiac and there are no known Zodiac letters written in 1972 but I think there might be a good discussion to had here. Did Zodiac spawn a number of copycat letter writers, either ones claiming to be from Zodiac himself or ones from others with their own agendas? Do you think that any of the authenticated letters were not written by Zodiac by were instead just very good copycat letters? If so, which one(s)? For me it is difficult to see some of the letters that were authenticated actually being from Zodiac, particularly the letters written in 1974 and the desk poem. | |

| That note made me think of this 1981 Atlantic Child Killings note: A note sent to several papers in early March, which reads "Stop forced bussing or I will kill three more black boys in Atlanta in March!" Three of the Atlanta Child Killings took place in March, no more, no less. | |

The '74 letters... In December '73 the Examiner ran an article requesting Z correspond. I have not seen this article, don't remember if it was SFPD making the request, but it may well be the reason for the Jan. '74 Exorcist letter, which for all the world looks authentic to me. And an interesting way for Z to respond to the request, with a movie review. Just touching base. This may well have spawned copycat letters. I've never had much faith in the RP or SLA letters, strictly from appearance and textual standpoints. I also wouldn't be a bit surprised if one or more copycat letters were the work of those (not in LE) who had involved themselves in the Zodiac case for one reason or another... | |
