TIMELINE CHART: Zodiac, College Girl and Family Murders 1966 - 1969

This was based on research by AK Wilks and AweShucks, with graphic design by AweShucks.

Percy was killed with a hammer and a 10" - 12" inch long knife.

Also, Bubes survived her attack.

I think this timeline is great to look at because it really brings home how CLUSTERED these attacks were, and some of the similarities with victim type, MO and weapons.

And the clustering in time, with the Fall of 1966 being a time for many of these attacks, and all happening within 3 years, from 1966 to 1969.

I think one mind, one person, is behind most or all of these attacks. At the very least, there may be connections between some of these cases, and they should be studied, and this tool of the timeline is a first step.

Any corrections or suggestions?

Maybe we can do general Zodiac timeline, or perhaps also a late 1970's and early 1980's timeline as well.

Interesting list. There was another Family murdered down in southern CA not far from Riverside around this timeline...the BOLES Family. Any thoughts on them pro or con in consideration of this list?

Did Boles dad work for Hughes Aircraft space program was it 022 weapon was it 1965 and what month?

Yes, 1965 killed by a .22, Dad worked for Hughes. The murders were in San bernardino/Riverside area.

Also, the aardsma case fits into the section of a "letter received" too.

Thanks. I am definitely going to dig in to the Boles case over the next week. There is a high tech connection as with Percy, Bricca, Sims and Robison, and the MO and weapon matches Robison, also the cabin in the woods aspect. Robison was trying to do a deal with Howard Hughes as well.

Maybe we should include them in this timeline, Boles Family Murder 8/13/65, .22 gun.

Were any bodies of Boles family members STACKED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER? That was present in SB 63, Robison and Bricca, and body posing of any type happens in only 1% of all murders.

AK, I cant remember if any of the Boles Family members were stacked on top of each other or not. There is a good documentary called THE BOLES FAMILY MURDERS. The killer(s) even killed the Family Dog.

Backed up at work so can't do too much research until next week. But I read one report that the Boles family were found in one room, and that BODIES WERE STACKED ATOP EACH OTHER, as in possible Zodiac 6/4/63, Bricca 9/27/66 and Robison 6/25/68. Amazing. Maybe someone else can confirm?

And the Boles murder weapon was a .22 LR, same as Zodiac 12/20/68 and Robison 6/25/68. Also, police in the Boles case said the weapon was likely a HIGH STANDARD, and in Zodiac 12/20/68 and Robsion 6/25/68 police said the weapon was likely a HIGH STANDARD or JC HIGGINS.

NOTE: While the Percy murder fits the lone female college girl attacks, it should also IMO be considered a family attack, BEACAUSE THE ENTIRE FAMILY WAS HOME AT THE TIME OF THE ATTACK AND MAY HAVE BEEN THE TARGET, BUT FOR THE INTERRUPTION OF THE STEPMOTHER AND THE BURGLAR ALARM.

Bottom line, in a ONE MONTH PERIOD OF SEPTEMBER 18 1966 TO OCTOBER 30 1966, THERE ARE THREE HOME INVASIONS WERE THE ENTIRE FAMILY IS PRESENT - PERCY, BRICCA, SIMS - WITH TWO FAMILIES WIPED OUT - BRICCA AND SIMS - AND TWO COLLEGE GIRLS KILLED - PERCY AND BATES.

Also, in a THREE YEAR PERIOD from 8/14/65 to 6/25/68, we have five families attacked in their homes- Percy, Bricca, Sims, Boles, Robison. All have a high tech connection. In Bricca, Boles and Robison bodies are stacked atop each other. And a .22 LR, knife and a hammer is a frequent weapon.

Boles murder scene in CRESTLINE CA is just 27 miles from Bates murder scene in RIVERSIDE CA:

I find it interesting that the Boles murder scene in Crestline is only 27 miles from the Bates scene in Riverside. And the .22 LR used in Boles matches the .22 LR used by the Robison Family killer on 6/25/68 and by Zodiac on 12/20/68. SB 63, Robison and Zodiac 12/20/68 had six lands and grooves with a right hand twist, I don't know if Boles did.

This is the Robison family cabin.

I saw a video of the Boles case, very disturbing and sad. The 22 LR is the same type of weapon used in the Lake Herman murders, but we can't say that it is a match. All colts I have been told ,have a right hand twist. Please correct me if that is true or not ?

AK, I will pm you the address of the Boles Documentary creator, like John Averitt when it comes to the D/E case, this guy likey knows the boles case better than most.

He told me that the weapon was a High Standard Sport King, and that it was mentioned 3 times in reports, and that 2 separate specialists reached these conclusions.. I told him that the Z murders included a Hi Standard 101. I thought these were two different guns, but then I searched and found that the "High Standard 101 has a Sport king sub class"...whatever that is.

I am pretty sure that they determined it was either a High Std 101 or JC Higgins Model 80....both are one and the same gun made by same people. The only difference is that the Higgins 80 was marketed and sold in SEARS stores only,sort of like acetominophin....comes in Tylenol or generic, but both are the same thing.

So we have possible to probable use of a High Standard or JC Higgins in Boles 8/14/65, Zodiac 12/20/68 and Robison 6/25/68, definite use of .22 LR in all three, further we have six lands and grooves with right twist in possible Zodiac crime of Domingos-Edwards 6/4/63, Robison 6/25/68 and Zodiac Jensen-Faraday 12/20/68.

Morf thanks for the info, I am going to do a little more research on Boles, watch the documentary and then try to contact that man who made the film, maybe even invite him to join here if OK by you.

DREAMNINE pointed out at websleuths that by possibly including the Boles murder in this pattern it would mess up my Algiz Rune/Yggdrasil killings map. But he then edited to reflect that Boles was in 1965, thus before the map pattern cases I mention.

Right. It would mess up the pattern. So my theory is still valid only if we look at the 1966 to 1969 cluster for the Algiz Rune/Yggdrasil match, which I think perhaps makes sense, as you acknowledge.

Interestingly, the 8/14/65 Boles murder in Crestline, CA is just 27 miles from the site of the probable first Zodiac crime, the murder of Cheri Jo Bates in Riverside, CA on 10/30/66. So that could create a possible map pattern, in particular if you add the other possible and confirmed Zodiac cases like Santa Barbara 1963, and then maybe also the SF Bay area cases. Don't have time to do a map on that now, maybe someone else can or I can do it next week.

I don't say "for sure" these cases are linked, but it was an incredible explosion of violence against families, all with high tech connections, in particular computers and/or aerospace, with frequent MO and weapon matches. I have confirmed body stacking in the Boles case, so that matches possible Zodiac Domingos-Edwards 6/4/63, Bricca 9/27/66 and Robison 6/25/68. In Boles case, the body of one of the sons was found underneath the mother Darlene, just as RAND mentioned.

The murder sites in Good Hart, Michigan (Robison Family 6/25/68), Cincinnati, Ohio (Bricca Family found 9/27/66) and Tallahassee, Florida (Sims Family 10/22/66) all are in an almost perfect vertical line on a map.

Add in Kenilworth, Illinois (Valerie Percy 9/18/66) and State College, Pennsylvania (Betsy Aardsma 11/28/69) and they all form a rough cross, actually more like the Yggdrasil Symbol/Algiz Rune.
