a good read:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Keddie_Murders

I thought about this before as a possible Z attack, but I think one person would have trouble attacking all those people. I think there was more than one person involved. Then again, since the young girl was kidnapped, maybe she was targeted by a child molestor. Now adays, its not unusual for attackers to go into somebody's home and take a kid. Maybe the person was intent on taking her, and killed the others to accomplish it?

As I have mentioned before on another board, I would not exclude the possibility that Mr Boles' South African employment at Hughes' migt have had played into this terrible murder. His earnings would have hardly covered his lifestyle and some witnesses did spot a dark colored individual moving from the general direction of the crime scene.

I am doing some research on guns. This family was killed with a HIGH STANDARD L SPORT KING model. I think there is a SPORT KING 101 as well. I am trying to sort the differences. I do know that these models could fire long rifle rounds. That is important as many .22 pisto;s could not fire long rounds. It is especially interesting that the 12/20/68 LHR murders of Faraday & Jensen involved either a HIGH STANDARD 101 (not sure if it was a sport king)or a JC HIGGINS model 80.
As we all know, long rifle ammo was found at LHR crime scene.

It is interesting to me how many victims in some prominent unsolved murders have ties to high tech, aerospace and/or defense industries.

The Boles father was an aerospace engineer for Hughes Aircraft. Correct?

The father of Valerie Percy was CEO of of a high tech business machine and camera company that made equipment for spy planes. Percy was killed September 18, 1966. A week later the Bricca family was murdered, Jerry Bricca worked for Monsanto Chemical, and the father of Linda Bricca owned a company that did contract work for the Defense Departmer. The bodies of the Bricca family were found on September 27, 1966.

October 30, 1966 Cheri Jo Bates was murdered. Her father worked at a Naval Weapons facility.

I mean, perhaps 2% or less of the population would have worked in these industries? It seems odd that all of these victims would have such ties.

AK, there was some type of Naval Facility in ALAMEDA. Did it have any type of relationship to the place that Cheri Jo's Dad worked at?

PostSubject: Re: The Boles Family: 1965   The Boles Family: 1965 EmptyThu Apr 29, 2010 11:33 pm

I just watched the movie called THE BOLES MURDERS, an interesting documentary. Although it was pretty low budget in appearance, they did a good job of shedding light on the case. Although police were siuspicious of one of the Family members, there was no real motive. No sex, No money, no drugs. That is where it gets odd. Even the family dog was killed. The dog was a smaller kind, not a ferocious or large dog that would have threatened the killer(s). I could even see that the killer(s) may have killed the dog if it was barking. But they took it a step further and displayed the dog on the couch in front of a large picture window, almost to draw attention to it if someone looked in. Definitely leaves one scratching your head.

Also, the 4 victims were moved into a smalish 9x12 room where they were killed. I could see someone doing what Z did at Berryessa, and saying "okay, nothing to worry about, this is just a robbery, do as I say and everything will be fine"

Another little interesting note is that the writer and director of this Boles movie was a newspaper editor. Someone "anonymously" dumped a bunch of the Boles case files on his desk. Before that, he never heard of the case. Geeze, doesnt anyone take the time to write to the Editor anymore? Wink

Anyway, I wanted to see how close this crime was in CRESTVIEW to the location of the school Patricia Hautz attended along with Zodiac POI MLZ? Maybe one of our resident Google Earth experts can help.

This may be simply another coincidence like so many others in the Zodiac world, but there was a man interviewed in this movie that police interviewed regarding the victims. I dont want elaborate more about his ID here at this time. But he was a stalky man with red tinted hair. He had ties in Southern CA in the 60's. But a quick Ancestry search shows this man (or a man with same exact name and middle initial-not a common last name) getting married in Sacramento in Sept. 1971. Thats an hour from Vallejo. Thats pretty interesting....as I said, may be just another Zyncronicity

I think it's CRESTLINE Morf, and only 15 miles from Pacific High in San Bernadino.

This guy soon moved to Grass Valley after the Boles murders. That is about 2 hours from Vallejo. He then got married in Sacramento in 1971, only an hour from Vallejo. Again, certainly could be coincidence. There are those that feel this man may have been involved in the Boles Family murders.

The Boles Family: 1965 Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Boles Family: 1965   The Boles Family: 1965 EmptySat May 08, 2010 12:02 am

I just watched the Boles Family Murders and find the movie's conclusion that Floyd Rice, the brother of Darlene and the person who along with the red-tinted hair guy found the bodies, to be the killer an absurd theory. The big piece of evidence, so the movie claims, is that Floyd went into the cabin and came out 15 minutes later, so says the red-tinted haired guy 4 decades later; at the time, he said that Floyd went in for a few minutes and came out. So what? What does that prove. Then this guy (the red-tinted hair guy) says that Floyd had a .22; he now remembers this. But LE didn't know it at the time. I say bunk.

The key to why Floyd wasn't the murderer is what he said at the time and what no one in the movie disputes: he said that the one boy was not in the house; and that he wished he had found him murdered because he hated to think what the "kidnappers" were doing to him. The reason why Floyd thought that the one boy was not in the house and murdered was that he was lying under Darlene's body. The killer surely would have known this. Later, Floyd told the red-tinted guy that the boy was found dead in his room. Floyd must have guessed this because he didn't check the room and didn't see the body. So how can they believe that Floyd was the killer? How could they not even address this obvious problem with their theory?

They say that people saw Floyd and the red-tinted haired guy the day of the murder. Again, nonsense. If so, this would have been discussed by police at the time and put Floyd under great scrutiny, since he told police that he'd never been to Crestline before the Monday he found the bodies (they were killed Saturday night). People must have seen them the day they drove to the house (Monday) and then, many years later, claimed that it was Saturday.

The whole thrust of the movie is bogus. It never addresses a much more obvious line of questioning: where did Jim get the money that he had? He must have been doing something on the side. Being that Mr. Boles worked at Hughes Aircraft and had just retired, a more plausible theory would be that he was selling military secrets to a Soviet agent, who was the guy who called him and was looking for him and whom Mr. Boles feared. That would also explain why he retired and, out of the blue, moved to Crestview.

I still think it was just a senseless crime committed by a bloodthirsty psychopath, i.e. the Zodiac killer.

Within weeks of the murders, the red tinted hair guy moved to Northern CA, near Grass Valley i think. Supposedly with some $$. I was told this directly by the guy that made this documentary.

I cant buy a "selling secrets to the russians" theory. I agree, I think that they were the victims of a psycho. If the family member wanted to kill them for their money inheritance, why not catch them alone? Why kill them with the kids there, alot more could go wrong. Plus it was weird how the dog was shot and displayed on the couch for anyone that came along to see.

I could see the killer using the Z tactic like at Berryessa to round them all up...."this is only a robbery, nothing to worry about".

Alot of .22 rounds were fired!

Anyhow, these were interesting murders as they are close to the area that MLZ (zodiac POI) lived in around that time.

Yes, and someone saw a light-colored car. Ask the guy who made the documentary how it was that Floyd didn't know about one of the boys who was lying under Darlene if Floyd was the killer. Incredible how he sloughs off this crucial point, but focuses on how long Floyd might have been in the cabin. Why would that be important? I would think that the killer wouldn't have needed to be in the cabin long to figure out what was going on because he knew what happened. Why did the doc make such a big deal out of this "discrepancy" -- if it was one? Makes no sense to me.

It has in the past on another site what Z suspects were in this area during the time of the attack.
See Orange County CA map.

BD lived in Anaheim 1964-66. Riverside on Lemon St.,until Nov.'66. See my site on this. BD wrote saying he had been to Santa Fe Springs to work;Costa Mesa for the beach (same one Cheri went to);Buena Park to work;El Monte to work;Newport Beach (Cheri went there also)for the beach. So he was in that area where the Boles' were killed during that same period of time!
He was well capable of murdering an entire family(he hated his own family and was beaten by his father while the mother took a passive role) especially while on drugs-speed-LSD- which he has admitted to taking then(1964-70)in a parole report. Not saying he killed that family, but I answered the question 'what suspects were in that area at the time the Boles family was killed.'

Troy Houghton was living in the San Diego area at the time; he traveled around California visiting MM recruits and doing other related business activities (running guns, etc.). He as a naturalist of sorts, a former miner, etc. Could very well have been at Crestline.

It could be a other Z common thing we run into a lot on here but I feel it worth making a note..

Few months back I was helping one of our women Sandy ???? I think so not sure but I think it was Sandy about automoblie's and tire track width I was helping her with plus a very low crome amount car..

Guess what type car these people had parked in there garage at there other home????

1962 White Mercury Comet..

I saw this and thought best post it... " Just in case " this might come back to help us at a latter time..
