This letter contains an interesting riddle. Does not contain the usual "This is the Zodiac speaking". Mailed from LA to the Chronicle, typewritten, no envelope or image published.

I am the ZODIAC and I am in control of all things. I am going to tell
you a secret. I like friction tape. I like to have it around in case I need
to truss someone up in a hurry....I have my real name on a small
metallic tape. You see, while you have it in your possession, I want
you to know it belongs to me and you think I may have left it
accidentally. I am athletic. It could be swim fins, or a piece of scuba
gear. But maybe you play chess with me. I have several cheap sets
in closets all over. I have my name on the bottom of the lid with the
scotch tape....My tape is waiting for me all over California. Do you
know me? I am the ZODIAC and I am in control.

If it was Zodiac who wrote the Cheri Jo Bates "The Confession" letter (which I belive it was), which was typed and Z´s first letter, posted in southern california, maybe Zodiac concidered the "I Am In Control of All Things" his very last letter, ment to close his Zodiac "era", and he wanted that last letter to be typed, and sent from southern California, just like the first letter?

Additionally, 1978 was the 12th year anniversery of the 1966 first letter
12 like in 12 zodiac signs?

Wish we knew if the "I am the ZODIAC and I Am In Control of All Things" letter was typed all in caps like "The Confession letter"

This is reflected in the structure of the letter, which also is a rondo, beginning and ending with 'I am the ZODIAC and I am in control'. Intended or not, it's beautiful.

The rondo structure is rather obvious. As i can not post a table in this post, a made a little list here:

A rondo resembles a circle, which fits to the zodiac sign (I don't think this is more than a coincidence).

It's an interesting letter, but a bit too eloquent to be Zodiac's work.

I belive that Zodiac in this, his last letter, decided to show, in clues, his "true colors".
That he in fact was much more educated/intellectual/artistic than he had let the public/LE know, in his previous communications.
However, if you study his previous communications, IMO, there were lots of indications/clues, that he ideed was educated/intellectual/artistic.

Would love to see the real letter. I'm still pondering this one. It is written eloquent with a riddles an games. Both seem Z like to
me. If some of these letters are fake, wondering... are they coming from the same person... and what was his game?

I think it's possible, Zam, that the originator of one or more of these fake letters was a copycat killer whose existence people were not even aware of. Which begs the question: where is he today?

Great AK , please make sure to ask for the envelope as well, VERY important.
And could you tell them that if they don´t have the envelope, but have INFO about the envelope, like what/how many stamps? handwritten/typed? how was the address written? any additional writing on the envelope? if handwritten address, what was it written with?

This letter mentions the word tape four times and is almost like a riddle in nature. In the FBI files there is a correspondence from the FBI (which only amounts to this one page as far as I can see) FBI file 4 page 197 that appears to be an analysis of a letter and two tape cassettes. It is dated 21/4/75. It is very short and appears to be addressed Cryptanalysis. The letter begins 'To the District...' and the tapes had written on them 'play me first. play me second'. There is no other info on them. In light of this letter it has me wondering. Any possibillity of including this 'To the District' letter on the FOIA list AK and Morph.

I see why you noticed it because of the "tape" aspect, also, what if it had the voice of Zodiac?

But from what I found, it seems it was ostensibly yet another amatuer code solver giving a tape of instructions to solve the codes. The FBI dismissed it as wrong. They don't seem to think it could be from the Zodiac. The file has a lot of this stuff. This could even be "Blaine - Goldcatcher". Or someone like him. Both Goldcatcher and Penn, and Graysmith, appear in the FBI files with proposed code solutions, along with many others. As well as psychics and astrologers. We could still ask for it but I don't think it will hold many clues IMO. Might be interesting though. And of course the FBI could be wrong.

I will ask for it, the letter here. Just to take a look.
