Shiri-Dine Bana
Reported missing by her mother. Her car was observed at Blue Rock Springs on May 12, tagged by VPD May 17th. Her body was found May 18 th in weeds off Reservoir Road which is less then 1/4 mile South of Lake Herman Road. She was stabbed at least 25 times. Abducted from Vallejo jurisdiction and found in Benicia jurisdictions.

Shiri-Dine Bana DOB 4/2/1960 DOD May 1979

Shiri-Dine Bana's car was a 69 Ford Torino. It was found at Blue Rock Springs Parking lot parked across 3 parking stalls (I wonder if it was the exact location of where Darlene's car was parked) Strange that it was parked sideways at a 90 degree angle as if to draw attention to it.

I heard from the victim's Brother,and he didnt elaborate on it much,very short and to the point,but stated that he believed there HAD BEEN A CONVICTION in her case,and the perp was in prison in AR. (I dont know if he meant Arizona/Arkansas,or what)

Tell me, how was he convicted, without DNA? HE BELIEVES ???? What is up with that ? Who did they convict ? I still think this is a possible Z victim. I would need a lot more information to change my mind,I know of people who have been convicted for crimes they did not commit, there have been people who actually have confessed to crimes that they didn't commit, just to have three meals and a cot

Body found at Reservoir rd,not many yards from Betty Lou and Davids crime scene. Car at Blue Rock Springs across 3 stalks, could have been exacly where Darlene had parked yrs before ?
Her mother found evidence left by the killer in her daughters car , that was missed by Benica PD. It was a bloody knife and a Timex watch, put on the turn signal. Her mother said the watch was not her daughters nor did she recognize the knife.
This to me is taunting, something Z would do , I believe.

Sandy you might be able to get some information from Benicia PD. They should at least be able to tell you if it is still listed as an unsolved murder on their books. Maybe you can get more information, too.

The Knife and the "Timex" wristwatch very strange. The Solano County deputy coroner Mark Berto said it would take a physically strong person to inflict the stab wounds the woman suffered. At least 25 stab wounds, one went throughout the sternum, and then the killer was able to remove the blade as well. She was stabbed in the chest, neck and back areas.

The Dectectives speculated that she was killed where she was found, as she was still wearing her glasses. (No mentioned of blood being found) Then they state, The car was apparently returned to the park (Blue Rock Springs) and abandoned. Her car was found illegally parked across 3 parking spaces instead of occupying the normal single stall. Also interesting that both Vallejo & Benicia Jurisdictions were involved.

Of course I know that , but how can we rely on him being her killer without a witness, or anything else ? The "real" proof with out a witness, would take DNA which we didn't have back then, is what I thought would be understood.

The bloody knife and watch, could have been put there after the car was checked, then released from impound. Being the police didn't see it in their search, they wouldn't see any reason to check it out after the fact.
A lot like the blood evidence I have ,from what I am sure came from the killer at Lake Berryessa murder. Napa should check it out, but they haven't and probably won't. Some detectives are better than others and will do what ever it takes to solve a crime, unfortunately I haven't found any.

That is a good idea Seagull, I do have a name of a older Det. who still has a interest in the Z case there, so he might have some good info on other cases they have as well . Thanks

Knife and watch- shades of Cheri Jo.

I believe that it's not unlike Z to leave clues to his crimes .Sort of connect the dots game is how I see it. We need to see the exact spot Darlene's car was on July 5th , and then check out where Shiri Dine Bana's car was parked and compare the two. If it was a Z crime ,and I feel it rings Z ,perhaps he forgot the exact stall Darlene's Corvair was parked and to be sure, he placed Bana's car across the 3 stalls giving VPD his little taunt. To show he was still killing and keeping his word not to announce who and when he killed ?

Yes he would have parked the car making a statement. This is a very disturbing murder. I was now
married to my POI for one year, was 20 yrs old, with similar appearance to this girl.

Dear Sandy, Try submitting your blood stain sample to one of the DNA testing services on line.
You could probably just clip a part of it and send in for testing, about $100 ask for a Profile.

I still feel that Zodiac left the items in Sandy's car. I also feel he would be more likely to paint
the mask, rather than sew out of fabric. So like Sandy says, it was a paper sack covered in black
shoe polish, and the zodiac symbol was painted on with white airplane model paint. I think he must
have feared she knew who he was, and or was attracted to her.

The young girls' error, mistaking scary for exciting. Just a matter of time before he turns it on you.

Thank you for knowing that I am not making any of this up ! I have shopped for DNA testing, the problem is ,that it needs to be compared to Hartnells and Shepards blood. It is such a small amount that I am afraid it would be wasted at lab, other than the lab that is handling the Napa case. It would be great if it also has Z's blood in it!
I keep it in a security box at my bank for safe keeping, in case something happens to me, if it did happen that I am killed, then I am very sure LE will check out my evidence and he will be caught. Aren't you the person who sent me pictures of your poi a while back ?

I think it might be better if he is caught before he goes for you, no?

Such an insurance wouldn´t work as good as a metal door in San Quentin. Also the chance that something of the DNA is wasted by a banker, executor, heir etc. is even bigger...you are the one who knows about - the book - the blood - the dna - the victims - the poi - etc. - accept responsibility. Also do I think it´d be good to publish pics of what you had found.

BTW, I guess the blood for 99% may come from the victims, therefore no Z DNA on it. Only Touch-DNA could work or a fingerprint if still available. Responsibility, knock on wood.

Dear Sandy,
Publish the Photos of what you have, then it's in their face.
If they find the vicitm's blood on the little bible then you have items from the Killer.
They can then check them for Zodiac DNA. If Sandy can't afford these tests, maybe
we could pitch in. But I believe her about what she found, and it should be tested right
away.

Sorry that this has gone way off topic, so any pictures of my evidence, will be posted on the Sandy's thread by Zam when she has time. She has scanned everything for me,and all of it was sent to Napa this last yr.

One who knows , the blood was on the dictionary not the tiny Bible.

Even if the Z's DNA on it isn't good enough , the Victim's blood should show that it had to be the z who put it in my car , I would think ? At least that would be something to go on.

I still want to see both crime scenes ,to see where Darlene's car was compared to Shiri's. If she is a Z victim and I think there is a very good possibility, then Z wanted to let us know about it in a vary subtle way .
