Wow, good work. I have some questions-

* Are there any existing photos of Bujok that he can find for you?

*Did Bujok ever visit CA, or have any friends or associates there?

*Did Bujok ever talk about the Zodiac crimes, or make any comments?

*Does he know where samples of Bujok's writing can be found?

Kevin: What was his hair like?

Ken: Medium Brown always in a crew cut slightly receded.

Ken: Straight and always very short.

Kevin: Zodiac was describe as pot-bellied, stocky round face, thin lips, small nose, about 5'10" and wore glasses. Does this describe Don Bujok?

Ken: Don always wore glasses! Yes that describes him....

Kevin: Does he know when Don got paroled?

Ken: He thinks the early 60's?

Awesome Kevin... Ofcourse im picking out the best parts.. But Im interested in finding out more.
Does he know anyone that was closer to Bujok?
Perhaps we should look into his family. Might be some family members alive.
I wonder if Billings gazette keeps a record of all lets say, letters to the editor? The chronicle seemed to have kept alot of files.
I wonder if there is a way to check who was the benefitor of his will? Who got his stuff when he died.
We really should need someone that was closer to Bujok..
And what was the cause of death?
Can he tell us about the rest of the Bujok family?

PostSubject: I spoke with another man who knew Don today   Tue Aug 16, 2011 7:39 pm

This was in response to a newby on tom's sight about an interview I did today with another man who knew Bujok. Zam, Rand, Morph: if you want to talk to these men we will talk.

This is what the men told me. Remember, it was a long time ago. If Tom Voigt or Zamanta or Morph ever want their number they can verify. I wouldn't give the numbers to anyone but them. I talked to two different men who were not friends of Donald Bujok but acquaintances. His family no longer lives in Roundup, Montana. He was a loner anyway. Monty said he was strange and got stranger as he grew older.
I am going to record the interview next time. As for me, if you read my posts, I'm almost always 'right on' in regards to this case. I learned from my Grandfather who was a 1st grade NYPD detective to check and recheck. He said to also go with what seems to be consistent. If you don't; you have nothing! I worked on many cases gathering medical information when I was younger that I know you have to try and be accurate. I was the one who listed Bujok's medical discharge reason #369.

Thanks for your interest. It does not mean this man was Zodiac. It is simply what we have run into many times over. There are plenty of fat men with gimpy legs and glasses and crew-cuts especially back then.

Yes he did say Buddy Holly glasses and he called his leg gimpy. What makes me think he was not Zodiac is that he spent all his time in Montana. From what I have been told Bujok's car was junky and he did not have much in the way of money.... That would make a trip to California pretty hard... His car was Brown from what Ken told me. It was a 61 Pontiac Tempest. However, like the Police report says, this car does have a 52 inch wheel to wheel on the inside that was noted by Police at Lake Berryessa not 57 as reported in Yellow Book.....

Zodiac did say his car was Brown once when he called police. Maybe it really was? It also was noted that the tires were worn on the car they did the imprints on at Lake Berryessa.....That may indicate someone whom was certainly not rich... Bujok wasn't!

I will continue to investigate... Isn't that what you pay me to do? What I do like about Bujok is that is that he fits the description and has a Montana Deer Lodge connection. He was 5'9 1/2 200 pounds (according to Deer Lodge rap sheet) had medium brown hair when he was older (Ken) and blond when he was young (rap sheet), a round face, walked with a limp, wore glasses and was weird as hell according to the men I spoke with. According to serial killer Ed Edwards (whom is known to be a liar) Bojok told him that, 'all of the people he murdered would be his slaves in the afterlife!' He Edwards also said that Don was interested in Egyptian literature and religion and read constantly. There were also cries of 'By fire, by gun, by knife, by rope by the inmates who took over the prison in the Deer Lodge prison riots. Don Bujok, Ed Edwards and Dryman were all there. Of course we don’t know for sure if Zodiac even said Deer Lodge or Montana, but I find this man compelling to say the least.

My theory is this: Bujok had a form of Bipolar disorder (Manic Depression) and if he was Zodiac he would do his killings when he was on a manic phase. People with this disorder are known not to need sleep for days when they are in this phase. He would drive the 1,166 miles to Vallejo in this manic phase to go do his collecting of slaves. This is about 20 hours of driving. Ted Bundy would travel all over the country killing.
I’m not saying he is Zodiac…. Hell it could be anyone of these suspects! They all hold my interest! He is worth a look at and I am doing the looking and listening. Thanks for your interest everyone!

If you want, feel free to post the rap sheet & photo for Bujok over at zk.com, I have no problem with that. Maybe you can help gather more opinions and theories on Bujok. He certainly is interesting. I have never believed that there was a 'team Zodiac', but if there was, and Bujok, Edwards, and Valentine were in cahoots, then that actually wouldnt shock me.

I believe the Zodiac Killer was Donald Lee Bujok, born July 6, 1936. He died in 1993. I have given the SFPD and Napa Valley Sheriff's department his mug-shot and his hand prints and handwriting samples. Zodiac was not William Joseph Grant, Arthur Leigh Allen, Ed Edwards, Larry Cain, Richard Gaikowski or anyone else! The man was imprisoned in Deer Lodge Montana Prison from 1957 to 1968. He spent the first two years of his sentence in Warm Springs Mental State Hospital.wait and see. Julia Brewer has been the real hero in solving this decades old tragedy…

At Berryessa,Zodiac said he killed a guard escaping from prison in Deer Lodge. But he didnt say he did it a few days before he attacked at Berryessa, for all we know, he could have been talking about 10 years before. Is there a list of the 12 inmates involved in that riot? Any of them named RICHARD?

Can we be more specific with dates? Bujok was sentenced to prison in November of 1957. KevinB states he spent the first 2 years of his sentence
in a mental hospital. He also states Bujok was involved in the escape of April 1959? How could he be in the mental hospital and the prison
in April of 1959?

Caresut, do you mean the riot of 1959?

I, too, find it hard to believe Bujok was in a "mental hospital" the first two years of his sentence. Less than a month transpired between the murder of Fossen and Bujok pleading guilty. Bujok was being held at a jail before he pleaded guilty. He was sentenced to life in Deer Lodge. Had he gone to a "mental hospital" for the first two years, not only would it be impossible for him to take part in the riot. It would also have been impossible for Edwards to have known him.

Darn it, I was enjoying the story. Maybe he commuted.

Someone gave me some nice size 12 work boots, 1-1/2 too big for me. I'm wearing 'em, not sure I'd go hiking in them. Should try two pairs of socks but they're hot enough already, and I hate doing laundry.

Maybe Bujok did wear a 10-1/2, the prison gave him 9s. You know what that will do to a person?

Kevin, a few posts back, you stated that Bujok wrote letters to the editor in CA as well as his home state of MT. Can you prove that?

Sorry Morph, it should say and "in his killing ground as Zodiac". The handprints will supply the proof! Thanks! I will edit it and correct my mistake.

In several books about Deer Lodge prison it tells of the punishment cons would receive if they misbehaved ( Jerry's Riot Giles Copyright 2005 page 67) One was to give the prisoner salted beef or pork and not give him any extra water when they would cry out for it. Another was to hang them Christ-like from bars in the cage and their toes would barely touch the floor. I believe that is what is depicted on the Halloween card. It's a shame for what you read here is truth. I believe he staged Paul Stine’s body in the same position as the Skeleton he put on the Halloween card; Christ like….

While Jerry's Riot does mention that some inmates who spent time in the Hole said they had been given salted pork, but the book does not say they were given salted beef.

Also, what do you mean when you say Bujok staged Stine's body in the same position as the Halloween Card skeleton?

The other time he messed up was the Stine murder, as I believe he did not plan to kill anyone or at least Stine that night but Paul Stine may have said something that angered him. That's why the kids thought they were fighting in the car because they were.

So you think Bujok and Stine were fighting in the cab? Was Stine shot during the struggle then?

That's what the 'San Francisco Chronicle' October 12, 1969 says: "Police said three youngsters saw a scuffle near the cab, which was stopped on Washington near Cherry street about 10:pm

I don't believe the kids said 'near but in the cab' . They never heard any shots, correct? So what drew them to thinking there was something going on in that cab?

I will do. The dates are what I was told 1957 to 1959. I wrote the two years and didn't copy the rest from my notes. I will find them and post the exact dates.... You can be assured however that Donald Lee Bujok was involved in the riot and he was digging his way out! (Edited because of typo error.)

Yes Tracers, The ringleaders had also dug a tunnel to escape. I am unclear if they started the tunnel before the riot. There was definitely digging going
on during the riot according to newspapers. The tunnel was started in the #1 cell block.
Bujok and Edwards time at Deer Lodge overlap 20 months. November, 1957(Bujok sentenced to Deer Lodge) to July. 1959(Edwards release).

The tunnel was started during the riot. It was more or less a desperate psychological attempt from Jerry Myles to keep his mates' confidence in his escape plans. The were going to dig a tunnel to a storm drain outside the walls, then dress in uniforms taken from the hostages and escape through the tunnel and the drain. The drain did not exist. Jerry knew that. It was the beginning of the end. ( summarizing "Giles/ Jerry's Riot", page 335)
