| Thanks for posting these again Tahoe. Last time I saw these it got me wondering why Z would use a portion of a complete Calif. map rather than a full Bay Area map. I was thinking that, like me, Z rarely bought a map and just wound up with them out of car glove boxes, etc.. Just dawned on me though that Z may have intentionally used this map rather than stuff an entire full size map in his letter to the Chron. Funny thing though is Z's map section has pin holes at the top. must have had just that portion pinned up somewhere. It reminds me of Dirty Harry where the Z character has things pinned up on his bedroom wall.
On another note, I was driving with a friend yesterday near Mt. Diablo, an architect, Berkeley grad and generally very smart guy. I asked him about the survey marker at the top. He knew all about it, I'll have to paraphrase what he said (and it's all on Wiki I'm sure) but it is the Bay Area survey anchor point, apparently a pretty big deal for those involved in charting, maps, surveys or whatever.
Seems likely to me that, whether the bus bomb was a ruse or not, Z was at least familiar with this survey stuff. I wonder if there could be any connection with companies involved with this activity working in the LHR, BRS and LB locations at the time of the crimes. I had done some searching the other day on the subject, coincidently, wondering about construction projects that may have taken Z to those areas at the time. |

| Mt. Diablo was definitely used for all that stuff Bentley....and more! Can't help but think of the rock quarry at the base--a part of Mt. Zion. And the telescopes at the top. I have tried to ask when these were installed, but no one knew. I know for a fact they were there in '74 because I looked through them. Regarding the tack holes...I have to wonder if LE didn't tack it up...?? _________________ “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” Dr. Suess |

Rock quarry? Wow. What's Mt. Zion?
Berryessa has an interesting history. It's a man made lake and they flooded the town of Montecello to do it, though long before Z, but I can 't help but wonder if there wasn't some construction related thing going on there in Sept. '69. I have searched the news archives and come up empty. |

Mt. Zion is the mountain they are "blasting". We used to live right there...I mean RIGHT there. You would feel the blasts.
http://www.mdia.org/Clayton%20Quarry.htm
The State of California has designated Mt. Zion as a mineral reserve to be used to supply the construction needs of Contra Costa County. Of all the rock shipped out of the quarry, typically 72% of it goes to public sector projects. Some of the specific projects we have been involved in are B.A.R.T. (50% of all the rail ballast came from Clayton), Interstate 580 & Interstate 680 freeways, Highway 4, Highway 24, the new Giants Stadium, the Los Vaqueros Dam, Concord Naval Weapons Station, Delta levees, and many other projects.
Mt. Zion was also known as "Pyramid Hill"._________________ “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.” Dr. Suess |

| It's possible, sure would be some shoddy police work. Somewhere in the Bay Area there is, or was anyway, a wall with pin holes the correct height and distance apart, unless the pins went into cork or cloth. If the search of a suspect residence or workplace were to turn up those holes in an appropriate area (above a desk perhaps) it'd be a good bit of circumstantial evidence. Wonder if that was ever done at 32 Fresno St.
Shoulda used refrigerator magnets. |

| Tahoe27, Thanks for the scans of the map. I think there are some potential clues located there. Could I ask you a favor? I'm currently exploring a new idea. The blue arrow below points to the murder site of Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards. Their bodies were found on top of another in a small shack. Now suppose we push a pin at this precise location on the map, where would the pin appear on the opposite side of the map? I need a precise location. A scan of the map with an 'X' showing the location would be ideal. Many thanks! |

| San Quentin, how appropriate... On the car, if I had to guess I would say early Buick Riviera, but I think it's just an artist representation of a generic car. |
